Galaxy is an open platform for supporting data intensive research.

Its goal is to develop and maintain a system that enables researchers without informatics expertise to perform computational analyses through the web. A user interacts with Galaxy through the web by uploading and analyzing the data. The advantage of the University of Tartu Galaxy is that the data is processed in a local cluster and in a secure environment.

If you are planning to launch jobs on big NGS datasets, please contact us first for support on tool profiling and resource allocation.

If you haven’t used Galaxy before, please watch a 10-minute introductory video.

Pricing

The table below indicates the prices of our services for the structural units of University of Tartu and users outside of the University. For additional information please check our pricing.

HPC Compute servers (Rocket)

  • CPU 0.012 EUR/core/h or
  • Memory 0.012 EUR/6GB/h
  • GPU from 0.5 EUR/GPU/h (see next section)

  • Memory usage is calculated by 6 GB segments. Accounting for the use of the computing servers is based on the amount of memory (1 unit = 6 GB of RAM/h) and processors (1 unit = 1 core/h) allocated to the user’s job(s). The price is based on whichever resource has more units allocated to it. For instance, for a job that uses 1 core and 2 GB of memory, and runs for 10 hours, the price is max(1, 2/6)*10*0.012=0.12 euros, but for a job that uses 1 core and 12 GB of memory, and runs for 10 hours, the price is max(1, 12/6)*10*0.012=0.24 euros.

  • When determining the order of starting compute jobs, jobs with higher priority are given preference.
