UT HPC Center provides backup service with the IBM Spectrum Protect (SP) software. The IBM SP client runs on Red Hat, Debian, or Ubuntu Linux, and the Windows platform.
The backup type is forever incremental that requires only one initial full backup. Afterward, an ongoing customer-defined sequence of incremental backups occurs. The customer can specify:
- How many versions of the data are stored;
- How long the latest version is retained after the data is deleted.
By default, one (1) copy of the data is kept. If desired, two (2) copies can be provided.
