The primary goal of the training will be to introduce Galaxy - the data management and processing environment for user interface assisted bioinformatics to complete novices, as well as demonstrate “tricks of the trade” in making good use of Galaxy smart features to our current user base:
- working on University of Tartu HPC cluster attached Galaxy instance: data submission, storage, security and backup policy
- learn to compare and relate the graphical user interface assisted version of the scientific software to its command line equivalent
- keeping your data organised and use space efficiently,
- profit from auto-documentation,
- make use of the built-in file and process annotation features,
- construct, adapt, manipulate, and annotate workflows,
- options for data analysis collaboration across institutions,
- share data responsibly and collaborate within a team,
- make sure your sensitive information remains protected
The training will take place on April, 9th, 2026 from 14:00 - 16:00 in University of Tartu Delta building (Narva mnt. 18) room #3087.
This course will fit up to 16 participants and will be conducted in person only.
Primary instruction language is English, however additional clarifications in Estonian can be provided, if necessary.

We have booked the room for an extra hour for extended discussion on topics raised by the audience, as well as to enable the beginners to navigate the features at ones own pace and ask assistance, if required.
